Truth...

I was listening to a song...and it got me thinking on a few topics. I took a couple of the things from the song and tried to build on them...

So, some people say that all truth is relative, and it just depends on what you believe. First of all, that makes no sense to me.... let me continue, and you may see what I'm saying. They say there's no way to know who or what God really is or what's really true. But you're saying you believe your own statement, that there's no way to know what's really true. They saying that statement is true. You're killing your own argument. So if what's true for you, is true for you...and what's true for me is true for me. What if my statement says yours is a lie...Is it still true? Hmm...

New topic...

Now, there's this thing called "Secular Humanism", that says that man is the source of all meaning and all purpose and that God has no say in this. Actually, I doubt that the people that believe this, believe in God. So they think that we came from a big, freak cosmic explosion and we have no purpose or direction, so we can just come up with our own purpose. We're the source of our meaning and direction. But, how can a man who is just a product of chance, just a finite being, be the source of purpose and meaning? He can't!

Another new topic...

Now, some people say they can't understand how God can be real, and there still be all this evil in the world. And they say, if He is really a good, true God, then he should stop all the evil in this world. Now, I've touched on this before, but I would like to go a little further into it. Lets go down the path that these people want. Lets just say that God gets rid of all of the evil. So let me ask you a question...What exactly is evil? Evil is anything that is morally wrong. Evil is all of sin.

Sin includes envy, murder, strife, deceit, maliciousness, gossip, slander, hating God, insolence, haughty, boastfulness, inventing of evil, disobedience to parents, foolishness, faithlessness, heartlessness, ruthlessness. (Romans 1:29-31) Also, you don't actually have to use actions to sin. You can just think something and you are sinning. Such as, in Matthew 5:28, Jesus says in the sermon on the mount, "But I say to you that everyone who looks at a woman with lustful intent has already committed adultery with her in his heart." Or when He said, "You shall not murder; and whoever murders will be liable to judgment. But I say to you that everyone who is angry with his brother will be liable to judgment." So thats pretty much saying that if we are even angry with someone, and think something bad, we are just as liable to death and hell, as if we would have murdered them.

Now, that's a lot of sin to deal with. So lets continue on this road, and say that God got rid of evil. Now, do we want him to get rid of all of evil, or just a little bit of it? If he stops us from doing just some evil things, what about lying, or what about our evil thoughts? Where do you want Him to stop? The murder level or the lying level? What about the thinking level? If you want him to stop evil, He has to be consistent. He can't just pick and choose what to get rid of... That means you and I will be eliminated, because we are evil. Everything about us is evil. And if that's true, we should be eliminated. But thanks be to God, that He sent Jesus to step in and save us from our sins. Christ died and put all of this evilness on his back, to give us freedom and a chance at eternal life. This grace gave us freedom on this earth, that God wouldn't have to eliminate all the evil around us, and He would give us free will. So have these people really thought about what they are saying when they say, "If God was really good, he would get rid of al the evil in the world"? No...they haven't. It's because God is good, that he sent down His Son to die for our sins, and give us complete freedom.
